WWE Live show results
August 7, 2014
Melbourne, Australia
Report by Milan Greco, PWTorch reader

Notes: The show was very close to a sell-out. Approx. 12,000-15,000, so good attendance once again by the people of Melbourne... Now, the WWE Network will be accessible in Australia next week. You would think they would tell us how to get it, or even give us a commercial, or maybe what content to expect on it? Instead they mentioned nothing about the network. Not one thing mentioned. WWE has die-hard wrestling fans coming to a show on a Thursday night (school and work night), with thousands of potential Network subscribers, and zero mention. They only have themselves to blame for the low network subscriber count. No excuse for this.

Match Results:

The show started with a brief 30-second video promo from Triple H welcoming Australia to WWE Live.

(1) WWE tag champs The Usos beat the Wyatts to retain the Tag Titles. Really good opener. The crowd was hot for it and both teams really worked well together. Good start to the show.

(2) R-Truth defeated Bo Dallas. I cant get enough of Dallas's character. He did the usual mic work before the match and the crowd ate it up. Truth won with a roll-up. Bo still did his victory lap after the match to the crowd's humour.

(3) Diego beat Fandango. Dud match. The crowd chanted C.M. Punk, Justin Roberts, and Y2J to keep amused.

(4) IC champion The Miz beat Kofi Kingston to retain the Intercontinental Title. Solid match between the two. Miz really does know how to play to the crowd as a heel. It suits him way better than a face, in my opinion.

(5) Chris Jericho beat Bray Wyatt. Both men were really over. Match of the night. Great match. At the end, Jericho called a couple to the ring for a marriage proposal! The man proposed to his girlfriend and the crowd erupted with Yes! chants. She accepted and it was a nice little moment that you wouldn't really expect to see in a wrestling ring (that's not an angle of course).

(6) Emma & Nikki Bella beat Alicia Fox & Layla. Not a bad Divas match. Emma was so over being the hometown girl and she is great in the ring. I really hope she gets decent TV time in the future. Just a tremendous wrestler/person.

(7) U.S. champion Sheamus beat Rob Van Dam and Cesaro in a three-way match to retain the U.S. Title. All three men were over and put on a crowd-pleasing triple threat.

(8) Roman Reigns beat Kane in a Street Fight with Ric Flair as special referee. Flair got a great reaction. The match was very similar to their match Monday on Raw. The finish saw Flair do some chops and punches on Kane and then Reigns hit a Superman Punch. Reigns was over, but not main-eventer over, though. This time last year, Daniel Bryan was in the main event, and the crowd went CRAZY for him. The year before, C.M. Punk was in the main event, same thing.
Reigns still has a lot of work to do if the plan is for him to be in the main event of WrestleMania 31.

Overall, a decent show. I was still left baffled by no Network mention, though.

Top Face Reactions:
