WWE Raw house show results
August 21, 2010
Odessa, Tex.
Report by Adam Lindsey, PWTorch reader

-- Adam Lindsey's detailed write-up, along with pictures from the event, can be found on his blog at blogspot.com.

(1) Kofi Kingston won a 10-man battle royal to earn an IC Title shot against Dolph Ziggler later in the show. Also in the match were Cody Rhodes, MVP, C.M. Punk, JTG, Drew McIntyre, Matt Hardy, Tyler Reks, Chris Masters, and Kozlov.
It came down to Cody, Punk, and Kingston. Cody then accidentally eliminated Punk, leaving Kofi to get the elimination on Cody.

(2) Women's champion Layla beat A.J. Lee. Lee is a developmental wrestler at FCW. The two had great chemistry with one another. The end came when Layla hit her "LayOut" neckbreaker for the win.

Jack Swagger came out and cut a promo challenging World Hvt. champion Kane to a match inside a steel cage later in the show.

(3) Matt Hardy beat "Dashing" Cody Rhodes. Rhodes really worked Matt's ankle in this one, and Hardy had the crowd solidly behind him. Hardy fought his way back, hit a very loud "Side Effect," and nailed the Twist of Fate after a failed first attempt. Drew McIntyre then attacked Hardy in the post-match. Rhodes landed a knee drop on the injured ankle, then McIntyre hit the Future Shock DDT on Hardy.

(4) Team Nexus (Justin Gabriel & Michael Tarver & Heath Slater) beat Chris Masters & JTG & Kozlov in a six-man tag match. Gabriel picked up the win for Nexus with a 450 splash.

(5) Intercontinental champion Dolph Ziggler beat Kofi Kingston to retain the IC Title. This match was fast-paced, lots of mat wrestling, a bit of high-flying, and some brawling outside of the ring. The match ended with Kofi looking for a sunset flip, and Dolph hooking a leg and grabbing the ropes for leverage to secure the pin. Post-match, Ziggler tried to attack Kofi with the title belt, but Kofi ducked, grabbed the belt, and KO'ed Dolph.

[Intermission]

(6) Alberto Del Rio beat Chavo Guerrero via submission. Del Rio controlled the match, then Chavo fought back with the Three Amigos suplexes, which drew loud "Eddie, Eddie, Eddie" chants from the partial West Texas crowd. Chavo tried to follow with the Frog Splash, but Del Rio got his knees up to block. Del Rio then applied his cross-arm breaker submission for the victory.

(7) C.M. Punk beat MVP. MVP hit Punk with his running big boot in the corner and set him up for the Playmaker, but Luke Gallows hopped on the apron, MVP was distracted, and then he turned around to take a sick roundhouse kick to the head from Punk. Punk followed with the Go To Sleep for the win.

(8) World Hvt. champion Kane beat Jack Swagger in a steel cage match to retain the World Hvt. Title. Kane got some offense in, but Swagger took him down with an anklelock, which Kane powered out of by rolling through. Kane hit a chokeslam, then Nexus hit the ring by climbing over the cage. They beat down Kane and Swagger teased getting up, but decided to rest while Nexus did the work. Hardy, Kozlov, and JTG then hit the cage to fight off Nexus. Hardy brought a chair into the cage, which Kane stole from Swagger and dropped on the mat to chokeslam Swagger onto. Kane with the pin for the win.
